EDGE pilot Bailey Voisin headed to Monza wanting to show the the true pace of the #2 LMP3 car after an unfortunate DNF due to a mechanical failure last time out. The #2 (Josh Caygill/Bailey Voisin/Finn Gehrsitz) lined up in P4 after Finn qualified the Ligier in extremely hot conditions.
Race day came and in very hot conditions with a “real feel” temperature approaching 40c, #2 ran consistently inside the LMP3 top-three, leading multiple times for long periods. Voisin did the middle stint of the race and drive a faultless race, making some crucial overtakes and managing the tyres to perfection. Unfortunately Gehrsitz, leading but under intense pressure, made a mistake and spun with 15mins remaining meaning the #2 car came across the line in P5.
Bailey Voisin:
“I had a good stint despite it being a little tricky managing the tyres that were staying on the car at the next driver change. I managed the traffic as best I could. We made good progress with the car throughout the event and deserved a podium.”
