EDGE Sporting Management driver Lewis Goff returned to winning form in spectacular style at the fifth round of the 2026 Ginetta Junior Championship, securing two victories and a podium finish at the iconic Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands to strengthen his position at the top of the championship standings heading into the summer break.
Following a challenging previous round that had seen his championship advantage reduced, Goff and the R Racing squad arrived at Zandvoort determined to bounce back. The response was immediate, with the pace-setting Brit proving to be one of the drivers to beat throughout the weekend.
Qualifying underlined that speed as Goff secured third place for the opening race before delivering a superb pole position in the second qualifying session. With the grid for the final race determined by the finishing order of race two, it left the Edge Sporting Management driver perfectly placed to challenge for strong results throughout the weekend.
Starting third in Saturday’s opening race, Goff wasted no time making his intentions clear. A sensational move around the outside of the two leading cars at Turn 7 on the opening lap immediately vaulted him into the lead, drawing plenty of excitement from the commentary team and delighting the R Racing pit wall.
Despite a mid-race safety car erasing his advantage, Goff produced a flawless restart before expertly managing the pressure to the chequered flag. Crossing the line just 0.175 seconds clear of his nearest challenger, he secured his seventh victory of the season and the perfect start to the weekend.
Sunday’s opening race saw Goff line up on pole position and convert it into the lead through the opening corner. He controlled proceedings for the opening nine minutes before the powerful slipstream effect around Zandvoort enabled two rivals to draft past on the long run into Turn 1, briefly dropping him to third.
Refusing to settle, Goff fought his way back to the front as the race developed into a thrilling six-car battle, with the lead changing hands several times in classic Ginetta Junior fashion. Unfortunately, while leading once again, a front brake lock-up into Turn 1 forced him wide and dropped him back to fourth. Showing impressive resilience, he recovered to third by the finish to bank another valuable podium and important championship points.
The final race of the weekend delivered yet another memorable contest. Goff repeated his opening race heroics by taking the lead at Turn 7 on the first lap, only to lose it again into Turn 1 on lap two as the slipstream battles continued. Having briefly fallen as low as fourth, a lengthy safety car period compressed the field before racing resumed with just seven minutes remaining.
Displaying the composure of a championship leader, Goff immediately began working his way back through the order. He reclaimed second at Turn 6 before retaking the lead at Turn 1 with just four minutes remaining. Although he lost first place once more on the final lap, the race still had one dramatic twist to come.
Applying relentless pressure into the closing corners, Goff forced the leader into a mistake at the final chicane, where a locked front brake sent his rival slightly wide. Instantly capitalising on the opportunity, Goff swept up the inside to reclaim the lead and held firm through the final corners to seal his second victory of the weekend and his eighth win of the 2026 season.
The outstanding haul of two victories and a third-place finish provided exactly the response Goff and R Racing were looking for after the previous round, allowing the EDGE Sporting Management driver to re-establish a healthy advantage at the top of the Ginetta Junior Championship as the series heads into its summer break.
