The fourth round of the 2026 championship took place at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, better known as Interlagos, with Cottingham once again sharing the #91 Manthey DK Engineering Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3 with Timur Boguslavskiy and Porsche factory driver Ayhancan Güven.
Cottingham was tasked with qualifying the car and produced a competitive performance to secure 11th on the LMGT3 grid. The Briton missed out on progressing to the top-ten Hyperpole shootout for the first time this season, but only by the smallest of margins.
Despite the result, confidence remained high heading into Sunday’s six-hour race, with the #91 Porsche having demonstrated promising pace throughout the weekend.
Cottingham took the start on a greasy circuit following light overnight rain, with the LMGT3 field remaining tightly packed during the opening stages. The high volume of traffic, combined with several drivers defending their positions, made it difficult to produce consistent lap times or utilise the car’s full potential.
Recognising that the #91 Porsche had more pace than its position suggested, Manthey elected to bring Cottingham into the pits earlier than originally planned. The strategic decision temporarily dropped the car further down the order but released Cottingham into a valuable pocket of clean air.
He immediately took advantage, producing a succession of fast and consistent laps which allowed the #91 entry to improve its net position as the different strategies began to unfold.
Cottingham subsequently handed the Porsche over to Boguslavskiy, who continued the recovery and brought the car into the top ten by the conclusion of his stint.
As has become customary for the #91 crew, Güven climbed aboard for the final stage of the race and continued to make progress through the LMGT3 field.
The Turkish driver closed onto the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang of former Formula One driver Logan Sargeant during the closing stages, before completing the decisive overtake with just four minutes of the six-hour contest remaining.
That move secured an excellent fourth-place finish for Cottingham, Boguslavskiy and Güven, with the #91 Porsche crossing the line immediately behind the sister #92 Manthey entry in third. The two results represented Manthey’s strongest combined finish of the season so far.
The result provided a significant confidence boost for Cottingham and the entire #91 crew following a disappointing outing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and demonstrated the pace and potential within the Manthey DK Engineering package.
The FIA World Endurance Championship now enters its summer break before returning to action at Circuit of the Americas in Texas for the Lone Star Le Mans on 6 September.
Following the race, Cottingham thanked everyone at Manthey DK Engineering for their hard work throughout the weekend and for providing the crew with a fantastic car. He also expressed his appreciation to EDGE Sporting Management for its continued help and support.
