Round 2 of the British GT Championship took place under grey skies at the iconic Silverstone Grand Prix circuit last weekend.
The #3 RJN ran Mclaren 570s GT4 car of Alain Valente and Michale Benyahia were looking to improve on their very disappointing opening race at Brands Hatch the weekend before where the car didn’t even make the start of the race due to a technical issue.
Qualifying would see the duo set a combined time that was good enough for P3 in class and P8 overall.
The long 3 hour race would see Michael in the hot seat for the start. A lightening start would see Michael move up 6 positions on the opening lap – a fantastic start for #3 car. As the race settled down, the true pace of the Mclaren was clear to see and the BOP was not on the 570’s side. Alain jumped in for his first stint and set some very consistent lap times which would hold position of p5 in class. With any hopes of a podium out of reach due to the cars BOP for this race, P4 was the target and between them both, Alain and Michael managed to snatch 4th place from their teammates of Jordan Collard and James Kell in the closing stages of the 3 hour race to cross the line P4 in class.
