EDGE Management driver Callum Voisin secured an impressive podium finish during Round 5 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia at the iconic Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, continuing his strong form in Porsche competition during an already outstanding 2026 season.
The Porsche Young Driver Academy member arrived in Italy fresh from a successful start to his Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain campaign, where he currently leads the championship standings, and is competing in selected rounds of the Italian series with Ombra Racing.
Monza’s reputation as one of the fastest and most challenging circuits in Europe was reflected in an incredibly competitive qualifying session. Voisin secured fourth position on the grid, with just one second separating the top nine cars, underlining the quality and depth of the field.
Starting from the second row, Voisin faced the daunting challenge of Monza’s famous first chicane, a corner renowned for incidents and drama on the opening lap. Despite the inevitable congestion, the British driver negotiated the opening corners cleanly, although he slipped back one position to fifth.
A first-lap incident further down the order immediately brought out the safety car, neutralising the race and bunching the field together once again.
Racing resumed with 22 minutes remaining, and fortune briefly favoured Voisin when the fourth-placed car ran into the gravel at the exit of the Parabolica while struggling for grip on cold tyres. The incident elevated Voisin back into fourth position before the restart had officially begun.
From there, the EDGE driver settled into an excellent rhythm and began steadily reducing the gap to the leading group. With slipstream playing a major role around the high-speed Monza circuit, the front-running trio initially managed to maintain a small advantage, but Voisin continued to edge closer as the race entered its final stages.
With just 10 minutes remaining, Voisin had closed onto the rear of the battle for third and made his move at the final corner. Carrying strong momentum onto the start-finish straight, he drew alongside the third-placed car and headed into a drag race towards the first chicane.
Braking later than his rival, Voisin positioned his Porsche on the inside line and completed a decisive overtaking move into Turn 1. Although his rival attempted to hang on around the outside and ultimately cut the chicane in the process, the position was immediately handed back, avoiding any potential penalty and confirming Voisin’s move for the final podium place.
The overtake proved crucial, allowing Voisin to briefly break the slipstream effect from the chasing pack and establish enough of a buffer to consolidate third position.
A late safety car threatened to create one final challenge before the chequered flag, but Voisin controlled the restart situation expertly and secured a well-deserved third-place finish.
The result represented an outstanding achievement for the EDGE Management driver. Stepping into one of Europe’s most competitive one-make Porsche championships and immediately fighting at the front against drivers with extensive local experience is no easy task, making a podium finish at Monza all the more impressive.
Following the race, Voisin thanked EDGE Sporting Management, Ombra Racing and Porsche Motorsport for the opportunity as he continued to strengthen his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in international GT racing.
