Third Podium of the Season in IMSA for EDGE Management Star – Tom Gamble

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship travelled to the world-famous Laguna Seca Raceway for the latest round of the championship, with EDGE Sporting Management driver Tom Gamble looking to continue the strong start to the season aboard the Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the fiercely competitive GTD category.

Heading into the event weekend, the team faced an early challenge, with pre-event testing proving difficult as they searched for outright pace around the demanding Californian circuit. However, through a combination of detailed setup work and strong progression throughout practice, the team were able to transform the car into a genuine front-running contender by qualifying

Gamble delivered an impressive performance in qualifying to secure P3 on the grid, ending the session just three tenths of a second away from the pole position time set by the Ferrari 296 GT3. The result provided a strong platform heading into the two-hour and 40-minute StubHub Monterey SportsCar Championship race.

Sharing driving duties with teammate Dudu Barrichello, son of former Formula One driver Rubens Barrichello, the Heart of Racing pairing entered the race confident they could challenge for a podium finish if they could maintain consistency and avoid trouble in the busy GTD field.

That approach ultimately proved decisive, with both drivers delivering composed and competitive stints throughout the race. Avoiding incidents and executing a clean strategy allowed the Aston Martin crew to remain firmly in contention across the duration of the event, eventually securing a superb second-place finish at the chequered flag.

The result marked Gamble’s third podium finish of the IMSA campaign and further strengthened what has already been an extremely competitive start to the season for the British driver and the Heart of Racing team.

Following the race, Gamble reflected positively on another strong weekend for the team:

“I’m really happy to come away from Laguna Seca with second place and another podium finish. We expected it to be a tough race coming into the weekend, especially after struggling a little bit in testing, but the team did an amazing job improving the car session by session. We kept our noses clean, stayed out of trouble, and that was key across the race. Huge credit to the whole Heart of Racing team and also Dudu, who did a fantastic job in his stints as well.”

Another composed and highly competitive showing in the GTD class at Laguna Seca further underlined the momentum currently being built by Gamble and EDGE Sporting Management in the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
