The Misano Circuit in Italy was the host for the third round of the GT world challenge Europe championship.
EDGE driver Tom Gamble came into the weekend positive after some good results at Brands Hatch at the previous round. However, some small problems in testing meant that the Garage 59 Driver would only finish P25 in the Friday test day, leaving a lot to do before Qualifying.
Luckily this was ironed out by qualifying where Gamble qualified P6 and ended the session as the top McLaren on the grid & just 5 tenths off pole.
The race was tough with three BMWs in the top six, the Misano layout evidently suiting the German Marquee, but Gamble and teammate Benjamin Goethe battled hard to bring their Mclaren 720S GT3 Evo home in 8thplace.
Another step forward was seen in Race two as Gamble and teammate Goethe held station from their starting position to finish 6th. This was a pleasing pace improvement finishing only 1 second behind 5th place and a mere 18 seconds off the lead.
Following the event EDGE Management driver Gamble commented: “This was a tough weekend as we always felt on the back foot a bit after some issues in testing but its two strong points finishes and we are feeling strong going in to the 24hrs of Spa which is the next round”
