EDGE driver Josh Miller headed to Portimao last weekend for round 7 of the Intelligent money British GT Championship looking to keep the momentum up of the podiums from Snetterton the previous month.
Qualifying saw a fantastic performance from both and Miller and teammate Hopkins and they took double pole which then meant a combined pole position for the race on Sunday!
The race would start under clear blue skies and soaring temperatures and Miller would take the lead into Turn 1. Just as the race settled and Josh began to extend his lead, the safety car came out for an incident at the hairpin. This period gave the teams a chance to make an early pitstop. Team mate Hopkins jumped and began to make endows toward the cars ahead that didn’t make an early stop. After just 10 racing laps, another safety car period occurred and this one would last for 30 mins. Miller would jump in once again and at the midway point the #23 Aston Martin Vantage was back in the lead. The final pitstop would see Hopkins jump in the bring the car home, but the #23 car had to serve its success penalty from Snetterton so as Hopkins came out of the pits he was now in P2. With just 15 minutes left in the 3 hour race and with Hopkins catching the leader disaster struck at Hopkins made contact with a back marker which resulted in a pitstop. This would force the Aston down to P7 at the flag.
