Round 7 of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship too place at Portimao last weekend under the clear blue skies of the algarve.
The DTO pairing of Aston Millar and Josh Rowledge came into the weekend with their heads held high following a podium at Snetterton at the previous round.
Qualifying would see Josh take the hot seat first and he managed a time which was just 1 tenth of a second off of pole position, which saw him line up P3. Aston would then take part in the 2nd qualifying session and he managed a time that was 5th fastest, giving the #36 Mclaren Artura an overall starting position of P4 overall and in class.
The race would begin with Aston at the wheel. An over heating issue saw Aston drop down the order rapidly as he lost 4 places. A safety car period saw an early opportunity to pit and Josh jumped in. A solid 10 laps from Josh then saw another safety car period which lasted 30 mins. A full round of pitstops later and the #36 DTO prepared machine was now sitting in the top 5. An incident ahead with just 12 minutes left on the clock saw the DTO car propelled onto the podium and they crossed the line in P3 overall and 2nd in class – a great result which saw the guys promoted to 2nd in the championship.
