EDGE pilot Josh Miller started his 2023 British GT4 campaign on fine form at Oulton Park for the opening round of the season over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Miller and his Norfolk based squad, R Racing, return to the championship after a strong maiden year in 2022. This year Miller will be paired up with fellow silver ranked driver Seb Hopkins.
Qualifying would be split into 2 sessions and Miller took the helm for the first session. With just 10 mins in the session, Miller set a lap time that would see the #23 Vantage line up P6 for race 1. Team mate Hopkins would set a time good enough for P6 also in nits qualifying session.
Race 1 would see Miller start the wet 1 hour race. A mandatory pitstop would be required halfway through the race. A good start saw Miller jump two places into P4. A slow GT3 car with Slick tyres on began to hold the lead GT4 pack up on wet tyres causing the pack to fall over one another. On lap 2 Miller made light contact with the porsche which would unfortunately lead to the car being retired, resulting in a DNF for race 1.
Race 2 would see Seb Hopkins start a very wet race. A solid first stint saw Hopkins pit at the halfway mark in P5. Miller jumped in and on a drying track made fantastic headway making several overtakes throughout his stint. Miller would take the flag P3 in class and P4 overall.
