The second round of the 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain championship took place at the historic Brands Hatch circuit in Kent. EDGE driver George Gamble was looking to continue his fine form from the opening round at Donington Park a fortnight before.
As it always is around the Brands Hatch indy circuit, qualifying was an incredibly close encounter and unfortunately George was on the receiving end of this qualifying in P8, but only 0.192 seconds off pole position. The top 17 cars were split by less than half a second!
The first race of the weekend was the running of the postponed race from Donington Park two weeks earlier which was suspended due to torrential rainfall. George had a fantastic run in this race and finished in second position less than 2 tenths off the lead & recording the fastest lap.
Race 2 resulted in George’s first DNF of the season after clutch failure on the penultimate lap forced him to into retirement from P9.
Race three saw a great comeback from the disappointment of race two as he finished P4 to top off a good weekend at Brands Hatch.
Leaving the Kent circuit George sits third in the championship and he’s well in the hunt for the championship.
