Reza Seewooruthun – British GB3 Championship
The latest round of the GB3 championship partnered with the BRDC took place at the Dutch Formula One venue, Zandvoort.
EDGE sporting Management Driver Reza Seewooruthun, driving for the Argenti with Prema team was looking for an upturn in performance following a difficult first round at Silverstone.
This immediately looked to be the case as Reza recorded the fastest time in free practice one and was never outside the top 10 in all the sessions leading up to qualifying.
Q1 was interrupted by a red flag whilst lots of drivers were on the lap including Reza but, in the end, he managed to qualify P5 and was happy with the cars balance.
Q2 was a very tight session aswell, with 3 tenths splitting the top 9, but Reza was pleased to improve one position and end Q2 in P4.
For Race One, Reza made a very average start but managed to hold position into T1 and the race then settled into a rhythm and though his pace was good he was unable to pass the car in front and finished in fifth place.
In Race two, starting P4, Reza got a great launch & managed to get up to 3rd by the end of the first lap. He was chasing the second-place car down but got lunged late by the car behind and had to take some avoiding action which dropped him back to 4th place which was where he finished, for his best result of the season.
Race three is the reverse grid format of the championship and Reza made a good start again and made up a couple of places but got caught in some mayhem ahead which saw him get stuck behind slower, recovering cars and he lost a few places but managed to salvage an eighth place to finish a very positive weekend.
Shortly after the EDGE driver commented:
“This was a big step forward for all of us this weekend. Both myself and the team working hard on the car balance between the last race and this one and so to be able to return these results is very positive indeed and we’re all very much looking forward to the next round at Spa. I would like to thank Edge and Argenti for all the hard work.”
Results: Q1 – P5 / Q2 – P4 / R1 – P5 / R2 – P4 / R3 – P8
