Seewooruthun Takes Bronze Medal for Team UK in FIA Motorsport Games

The FIA motorsport games 2024 took place at the circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.

82 nations and 700 competitors descended on the Spanish venue to compete for the medals.

EDGE Sporting management were lucky enough to have two drivers representing team UK, James Cottingham in the GT category and Reza Seewooruthun in the F4 discipline.

There were over 21 entries for the F4 race and following free practice Reza qualified his team UK machine in third place. Unfortunately, a pit lane exit infringement dropped the EDGE driver to a starting position of sixth place for the pre-final event.

In the pre-final, Reza fought hard and managed to make up two places to finish fourth which would be his starting position for the final feature race which was where the medals would be determined.

Following a good start, for the first five minutes Reza sat in fourth place looking after his tyres as it was a 30-minute sprint race & tyre wear would be a factor later on. The first three proceeded to battle and an incident further down the order meant the safety car was called after just five minutes of racing.

With 22 minutes to go the safety car returned to the pits and racing resumed & at the halfway stage Reza was sat comfortably in fourth position but the gap to the top three was slowly increasing however, all of the top three had received track limit warnings.

With five minutes to go the car in third-place received a five and then a ten second penalty for track limit infringements, this essentially promoted Reza into third place and the bronze medal for team UK.

This was a mature and disciplined drive from Reza who was the only driver in the top ten to not receive any track limit warnings.

It was a fantastic experience for the EDGE Management driver to stand on the podium and receive the bronze medal draped in the Union Jack and an experience the young charger will never forget.

Shortly after the event Seewooruthun commented:

“It was amazing to represent Team UK at the FIA Motorsport games, big thanks to Edge Management & Daizun Investments for helping make it a reality. Overall really great to visit a new circuit and race so many other drivers from different countries aswell, many of whom had much more knowledge of the track than we did. To take part is amazing but to stand on the podium having won a medal for Team UK was right up there in career highlights so far”
