Sam De Haan – GTWC– Sprint Series – Brands Hatch
The first round of the GT world challenge sprint championship was a home race for EDGE driver Sam De Haan as it took place on the historic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent.
De Haan, driving his Team WRT BMW M4 GT3, was 14th overall in Free Practice (3rd in Class) on Friday which looked very promising for some strong results.
Qualifying was super exciting with the positions changing hands numerous times throughout the session. Eventually the pairing of De Haan & Calan Williams qualified P11 (1st in Class) & P17 (5th in Class).
Race 1 was a fantastic run for De Haan in a closely contested race which saw the EDGE pilot come home in P7 (2nd in Class) with many Pro & Gold pairings finishing behind them. A fantastic podium was celebrated on home soil.
Race 2 wasn’t quite so smooth an affair unfortunately but the pairing battled to a hard fought P15 (3rd in Class) and another chance to collect a trophy and spray the champagne on the famous Brands Hatch podium.
Results – Q-P11 (1st in Class) / Race 1 – P7 (2nd in Class) / Race 2 – P15 (3rd in Class)
