PODIUM FOR GAMBLE AT VIR IN IMSA

Round 8 – IMSA Michelin GT Challenge – Virginia International Raceway – August 2025

EDGE Sporting Management and Aston Martin factory driver Tom Gamble returned to IMSA duty for Round 8 of the Michelin GT Challenge at the iconic Virginia International Raceway.

On this occasion, Gamble was drafted from the Aston Martin Hypercar program to join fellow Brit Casper Stevenson in the Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, competing in the fiercely competitive GTD category.

After showing encouraging pace in pre-event testing, the Aston Martin qualified strongly in P4, just four tenths off the pole-sitting Lexus RC F GT3. This placed the pairing in a confident mood ahead of Sunday’s 2 hour 40 minute race.

Stevenson took the start and delivered a composed first stint, running consistently inside the top five before handing over to Gamble at the halfway mark in P5. Gamble quickly settled into a rhythm, climbing to P3 with a series of strong laps that underlined the Vantage’s performance. However, following a safety car restart, he mistimed the launch fractionally, allowing a rival car to slip through and demote him to fourth.

From there, Gamble pushed hard but maintained a steady race pace, ensuring the Aston remained in contention. On the very final lap, fortune swung back in the team’s favour as a car ahead was handed a penalty for a pit stop infringement, promoting the British duo to P3. This secured a well-earned IMSA GTD podium to cap off a competitive weekend.

Speaking afterwards, Gamble said:

“It was a really good weekend – it’s always fun getting back into GT3 machinery after driving the hypercar, and Casper did a really good job all weekend. I’m really pleased to finish third, and the car had fantastic pace throughout. I’d like to thank Aston Martin and EDGE Sporting Management for all their support, and I’m looking forward to the remaining rounds of the championship.”
