HENRY MERCIER – OULTON PARK RACE REPORT – BRITISH F4 CHAMPIONSHIP CERTIFIED BY THE FIA
Round 5 of the 2025 British F4 Championship, certified by the FIA and sponsored by Wera Tools, took place at the picturesque and challenging Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire. EDGE Sporting Management driver Henry Mercier, racing for Argenti Motorsport, arrived with growing momentum after an encouraging run of performances earlier in the season.
Qualifying marked a season-best for Mercier, who secured 12th place. This also placed him on pole position for the reverse grid Race 2—an exciting opportunity for the young driver.
Race 1 was unfortunately one to forget. A red flag incident on the opening lap led to a full restart, and Mercier’s second launch off the line was compromised, dropping him to the back of the field. With limited opportunities to overtake and the field quickly spreading, it was a tough race to recover in.
In Race 2, starting from pole position, Mercier got a clean getaway and held 2nd place through Turn 1. Under intense pressure throughout the race from a train of cars, he demonstrated excellent race craft and composure to secure a season-best 2nd overall finish, also claiming his first rookie class victory.
Race 3 began with Mercier starting 12th and quickly climbing to 10th by the end of the first lap. The weather then became a major factor, with rainfall intensifying and catching several drivers out. Mercier managed the treacherous conditions superbly, focusing on staying on track while still racing hard. The race was red-flagged at half distance, and the result was declared, with Mercier classified in 7th overall and 3rd in the rookie class, earning another rookie podium.
After the weekend, Henry commented:
“This was a really fantastic weekend and both myself and the team were really pleased with the bunch of results that we were able to put together. It just goes to show what we can achieve moving forward and we really hope to take some of this momentum into the second half of the season.”
Henry also thanked EDGE Sporting Management for their continued support, and the Argenti Motorsport team for delivering a strong car throughout the weekend.
