EDGE Sporting Management driver Henry Mercier enjoyed his most successful outing of the 2026 season in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA, as the series headed to the Donington Park GP circuit for round seven of the campaign.
With the Donington weekend representing races 19 to 21 of the 30-race season, plenty of hard work had gone on behind the scenes ahead of the event as Mercier and Chris Dittmann Racing looked to unlock further pace and potential from both driver and car.
Those efforts were rewarded immediately in qualifying, with Mercier producing his strongest performance of the season to secure P12. As well as marking his best qualifying result of the year, the position also handed the American pole position for the weekend’s reverse-grid second race, with the top 12 from qualifying reversed to form the grid.
Race one proved to be a tougher affair, with Mercier battling his way through the opening encounter to eventually take the chequered flag in 13th position.
The highlight of the weekend came in race two. Starting from pole position, Mercier fought hard throughout and demonstrated a much more consistent level of pace than had been seen earlier in the season. Despite losing positions to some of the championship’s more experienced campaigners, he remained firmly in contention throughout and brought the car home in an excellent fourth place – comfortably his best result of the 2026 campaign to date.
Mercier carried that momentum into the final race of the weekend, producing another strong drive in a hectic encounter that featured plenty of action throughout the field. Keeping himself out of trouble while battling his way through the race, he crossed the line in ninth position to secure a second top-10 finish of the weekend.
With a season-best fourth place backed up by ninth in race three, Donington Park represented a clear breakthrough weekend for the EDGE Sporting Management driver and his strongest overall meeting of the season so far.
The significant step forward in both pace and results provides plenty of encouragement as Mercier and Chris Dittmann Racing look to build on the progress made at Donington across the final three rounds of the 2026 British F4 Championship.
