Lewis Goff Extends Ginetta Junior Championship Lead at Snetterton

EDGE Sporting Management driver Lewis Goff extended his lead at the top of the 2026 Ginetta Junior Championship powered by Sunoco Race Fuels with a pair of mature points-scoring drives during round six of the season at Snetterton.

The Norfolk event, comprising races 17, 18 and 19 of the championship, marked the return to action following a summer break since the previous round at Zandvoort, where Goff had further strengthened his title challenge with another victory.

Goff hit the ground running on his return to the track, never finishing outside the top four throughout the pre-event test sessions and heading into qualifying firmly in contention at the front.

An incredibly competitive qualifying session highlighted just how closely matched the field was, with Goff securing sixth on the grid despite finishing just two tenths of a second shy of the front-row P2 time.

With overtaking opportunities plentiful in the closely fought Ginetta Junior Championship, Goff headed into the opening race confident of making progress. Unfortunately, his race would come to a premature end through no fault of his own.

On lap three, Goff was tapped from behind under braking for the extremely fast right-hander at turn one, pitching his car into a spin and triggering a major multi-car accident behind. The incident eliminated several cars from the race and ultimately resulted in a red flag, with Goff amongst those unable to take the restart.

The DNF represented a frustrating start to the weekend, but with the championship entering its decisive stages, Goff immediately switched his focus towards maximising his points haul from the remaining two races.

He did exactly that.

A mature and controlled performance in race two saw the EDGE driver bring his R Racing Ginetta home in fourth position, banking another valuable haul of championship points.

Goff followed that with another fourth-place finish in the final encounter of the weekend on Sunday, playing his part in a remarkable piece of Ginetta Junior history as R Racing became the first team in the championship’s history to record a clean sweep of the top six positions in a single race.

With several of his closest championship rivals finishing further down the order, Goff resisted the temptation to take unnecessary risks and instead delivered another measured performance focused firmly on the bigger championship picture.

The two fourth-place finishes proved particularly valuable following the disappointment of race one and ensured Goff left Snetterton having further extended his advantage at the top of the standings.

With just two rounds of the 2026 season remaining, Goff now holds a healthy 116 point championship lead as the title battle enters its closing stages.

Despite his advantage, the approach remains unchanged for the EDGE Sporting Management driver – continuing to take the season one round at a time, maximising every opportunity and leaving the championship calculations until the final races of the year.
