The latest addition to the EDGE Management stable, 17 year old Reza Seewooruthun, embarked on the UAE F4 championship this month competing in the opening two rounds at the world renowned Yes Marina circuit.
Reza, who is racing with Hitech Pulse-Eight Racing and was under no illusion that the 5 Round championship was to be a baptism of fire being the youngsters first step into single seater racing. Racing against some of the best in the world with all varying levels of experience, the 35 strong grid all have aspirations to be the next Max Verstapen.
Round 1 would take place over the weekend of January 12 – 14 and would see 2 qualifying sessions and 3 races. Reza had a great debut qualifying session in his single seater and would line his car up P21 and P20. These qualifying results would transpire to a P23 in Race 1, P14 in Race 2 (P5 Rookie) and P16 for Race 3. A fantastic start to the youngsters single seater campaign.
Round 2 would take place over the weekend of January 19 – 21 and would see the same race format as Round 1. It saw the guys back at Yas Marina, but this time with a slightly different circuit layout. Reza did a fantastic job in qualifying, still learning the art of slicks and wings, and put his Hitech machinery P21 and P25. The 3 races were all fantastic mileage and learning for Reza and the improvements made were stellar, resulting in a P24 in Race 1, P12 (and P5 rookie) in Race 2 and P17 in Race 3, huge progress made across the weekend.
The championship moves over to Dubai Autodrome this weekend (Feb 2 – 4) for Round 3 of the Championship. The event also sees Round 3 of the Asian Le Mans Series where the all EDGE line up of Tom Gamble, Sam De Haan and James Cottingham in the Optimum McLaren take on the middle eastern heat in their 4 hour race.
