The third round of the 2025 British GT Championship brought the EDGE Management duo of Luca Hopkinson and Harry George to a rain-hit Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire, as the pair continued their campaign in the Optimum Motorsport-run McLaren Artura GT4.
Fresh from a strong 2nd place class finish at the Silverstone 500, the duo arrived with confidence and delivered again with a pair of class podiums, including their first overall podium as a pairing.
Qualifying
Qualifying proved a mixed bag. Luca secured P2 on the grid for Race 1, showing impressive speed and control in the changing conditions. Harry was left frustrated after only managing P5 in his session, but the rain arrived at the end of lap 1, meaning those who couldn’t post a time straight away were compromised — a case of unfortunate timing rather than outright pace.
Race 1
In the first race, Luca and Harry ran as high as the lead, holding P2 for the majority of the race while under sustained pressure from behind. A fierce battle with the Lotus Emira GT4 saw them pushed to the edge — and slightly beyond — resulting in a drive-through penalty for track limits late in the race. That dropped them to P4 overall, but they still claimed P2 in the Silver class, adding another solid podium to their growing record.
Race 2
Race 2 brought even more drama, with a greasy, borderline-wet track greeting the field. With some cars gambling on slicks, Optimum Motorsport made the call to start the #17 car on wets — a decision that proved critical. Harry carved through the pack from P5 to P2 in the opening laps, handing the car to Luca in a strong position. The pair maintained that spot to the flag, finishing just 0.6s behind the race winner after a relentless chase.
The result marked their first overall podium together and a silver class win to round off a weekend of clear progress.
Driver Reaction
“It was a weekend that just kept getting better and better,” said Harry George after the race. “Our first overall podium as a driver pairing, and a Silver class win to boot. We’re hoping to take this speed and these results into the next round at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Huge thanks to Edge Sporting Management and Optimum Motorsport for putting together such a great pairing and car.”
