George Gamble – Porsche Carrera Cup GB – Rd.9 & 10 – Knockhill
The latest installments of the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain were held at the Knockhill circuit in Dunfermline, Scotland.
EDGE Sporting Management driver George Gamble driving his Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport 911 GT3 Cup Car was looking for a big weekend bounce back after a disastrous round at Croft resulted in a pair of DNF’s.
Knockhills famously short and undulating layout produced an incredibly close qualifying session which ended with Gamble just 2-tenths off pole position but down in P9.
A bit of contact on the first lap of race one did not deter George in the slightest who proceeded to fight his way up into P5 by the end of the race in what George later described as his “most fun race of the year so far”.
The top five is reversed for race two in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and so saw the EDGE driver capitalise to the fullest with a lights to flag victory, his first outright win of the 2024 season.
Afterwards Gamble said “I made it hard for myself in qualifying but fought back hard to finish P5, get the pole and claim this year’s first win – awesome!”
Gamble now sits third in the championship with three rounds to go but is well in the hunt being only 10 points off the championship lead.
Results: Q-P9 / Race 1 – P5 / Race 2 – WIN!
